Theatre & Dance

Lanford Wilson Short Plays
Oct. 9-11 at 7:30 p.m. Rust Flexible Theatre. Ticket prices range from $15.75- $19.25, discounts available. A diverse collection of the top 10 short plays selected at the 2025 Lanford Wilson New American Play Festival. An exciting evening of theatre, with themes of life, love, coming-of-age, power, relationships, and human nature. Mature audiences recommended.

Working: The Musical
Oct. 30 – Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 1-2 at 2 p.m. Rust Flexible Theatre. Ticket prices range from $26 – $30.50, discounts available. Stephen Schwartz’ hit Broadway musical, Working, paints a vivid portrait of the workers that the world so often takes for granted: the schoolteacher, the phone operator, the waitress, the millworker, the mason, and the housewife, just to name a few. Nominated for six Tony Awards, this classic has been updated for a modern age, featuring new songs by Tony Award-winning Lin-Manuel Miranda, as well as favorites by Stephen Schwartz, Craig Carnelia, James Taylor, Micki Grant, and more. Mature audiences recommended.

Southeast Wind Symphony: ¡España!
October 6 at 7:30 p.m., Bedell Performance Hall. Ticket prices range from $15.75 – $19.25, discounts available. Celebrate the rhythm, color, and soul of Spain in a night of music that dances, sings, and stirs the spirit. From the festive flair of Luis Serrano Alarcón’s La Lira de Pozuelo to the reverent beauty of Joaquín Turina’s La Procession del Rocío, this program captures the heart of Spanish tradition. The evening concludes with the dramatic and powerful Marea Negra by Antón Alcalde—a vivid symphonic work inspired by the wild Galician coastline and the emotional depth of the sea. It’s a concert full of passion, procession, and pride.

Southeast Choirs: I Will Sing
October 9 at 7:30 p.m., Bedell Performance Hall. Ticket prices range from $15.75 – $19.25. Join the University and Chamber Choirs for the first choral concert of the season, where we will celebrate singing, community, and the impact of music on the world. Selections include Michael Englehardt’s I Will Sing and an arrangement of India Arie’s I Am Light by Darita Seth.

Pluckophony Series: Faculty Recital: Jesse Steele
October 10 at 7:30 p.m., Shuck Music Recital Hall. FREE EVENT. Featuring adjunct instructor Jesse Steele, this guitar recital will jump-start a recital series for plucked strings, Pluckophony. The program will include lute, guitar, and banjo as Jesse revisits music that secured his fascination with plucked instruments!

Johanna Yarborough – Guest Artist Horn Concert
October 14 at 7:30 p.m., Shuck Music Recital Hall. Ticket prices range from $15.75 – $19.25. Discounts available. From Louisiana State University, Assistant Professor Johanna Yarbrough, will grace us with a horn recital that features Dr. Barb Lamont on piano.

Fall Jazz Concert: West Side Story
October 21 at 7:30 p.m. Bedell Performance Hall. Ticket prices range from $15.75 – $19.25. The SEMO Jazz Bands will bring you to the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City to reimagine Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story. Sponsored by Saint Francis Healthcare System.

Percussion Ensemble’s ‘Trick or Treat’ Movie Night
October 30 at 7:30 p.m., Bedell Performance Hall. FREE EVENT. A spooky movie event featuring Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas and the Southeast Percussion Ensemble. This is a “PG” family-friendly event. The audience is encouraged to dress in Halloween costumes. Treats will be distributed after the concert.
