the 135th Anniversary Commemoration of the Second Morrill Act in Washington, D.C., on September 9, 2025.
The competition, hosted at the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) Student Center, brought together students from across the country to test their problem-solving abilities in real-time cybersecurity challenges. Lincoln University’s team participated virtually, tackling complex puzzles to uncover hidden “flags” and earn points.
Lincoln’s competitors included: Kelsie Anderson, Senior, Sikeston, MO
Courtney-Nicole Cooper, Junior, Los Angeles, CA
Alexander Kennedy, Sophomore, Chicago, IL
Jamir Hunt, Senior, Omaha, NE
Cassandra Hile, Senior, Jefferson City, MO
In addition to the Capture the Flag competition, Lincoln University students took part in hands-on activities such as an escape room and a lock-picking village, further sharpening their critical thinking and technical skills.
Their participation not only highlighted Lincoln University’s commitment to advancing cybersecurity education but also honored the legacy of the Second Morrill Act, which expanded opportunities for land-grant institutions like LU to provide higher education access to African Americans.
